So why do we bother? Is there any point to it all and what is in the future for us?
Well, the answer is that nobody knows. There are some very clever people throughout history who have made a stab at the answers to these questions and even now there are thousands of people, all around the world who study - or at least have an interest in - quantum physics which is the science of understanding everything that cannot be proved and making it seem realistic. The truth is that no religion has the answer and no scientific practice holds the key either because for as many answered questions they have, there are unanswered questions and unexpected events that leave mystery and woe wherever they go.
Regardless of whether we need to know the answers to these questions, we do need to get through our lives in as an enjoyable and trouble free way as possible. Not easy, is it?
The questions become:
- Do I have the right coping mechanisms to get through life?
- Am I following my dreams and living a fulfilling life?
- Have I conquered my low self esteem, am I a confident person?
- Do I live in fear of things and have I learned to give up control?
- Will I find a meaningful relationship with the right person?
- Spiritual solace: you may follow a particular spiritual/religious practice or just have a belief in a greater power and many people use this belief to relieve their emotional pressures. If it works for you, GREAT, but for many, understanding spiritual matters is too difficult and they need something more.
- Alternative therapies: Herbalism, Aroma therapy, Regressive Hypno-Therapy, Reiki, EFT, NLP, Chrystals, Primal Screaming. There are a lot of alternative therapies out there for anyone to try. Depending on what reading you do on them or how much you trust them will depend on how much they help you.
- Counselling: If you want to get counselling, which I would recommend for anyone, you really want to book this privately. It may seem expensive but a visit to a counsellor once every fortnight or even just once a month can make a huge difference to you. There are different styles of counselling out there, some are specific to addictions or trauma while others are more general. Which one is for you will depend on your circumstances.
- Self help: This is the cheap, private option. What I will say is that if you had the skills to cope by yourself you would not need to use this option so I would suggest initially going to get help from an external source while reading your first self help book or sifting through this site, then attempting the self help option once you understand how it might work better for you.
